Where are Hi Vis Yellow Coats Worn?

Yellow high vis jackets can be seen almost everywhere that heavy equipment is operating or where workers and contractors are working near active roadways, such as traffic police, road workers and even bin men.

Construction sites and utility contractors often opt for yellow hi vis clothing including jackets and vests as it offers exceptional contrast against the surrounding environment on site. In warehouses and transport depots you will find yellow high visibility vests to be the preferred choice as they stand out against racking, boxes and other visually busy surfaces.

Yellow is such a popular choice because it stands out in almost any working environment. One notable exception is the rail industry, where high visibility orange clothing is often preferred. This is because yellow can be confused with railway signalling equipment and does not provide the same level of contrast against the grass embankments commonly found alongside railway lines.
