About Us

Start Safety EU was established in Bulgaria in 2024, as the European arm of Start Safety UK. We have specialised in supplying safety equipment across the UK and Europe since 2008. We have a strong commitment to keeping our products priced competitively whilst maintaining a quality-first approach to the products and services we offer.

Our range of products in Europe focuses on the supply of safety gear and high visibility workwear from UK and EU manufacturers, and will over time expand to offer the comprehensive ranges of traffic centric products as our British headquarters.

We work with customers of all types, from the end consumer to big multinational companies. Having this diverse client base means we have to understand our products fully so that we can provide efficient customer service and offer genuine, relatable advice. It also means we have considerable stock holdings ensuring we can provide excellent value to both the private individual and the business user.

Setting Off

Founded By Barnaby Start in 2008, Start Safety was initially set up under the name Speed Bumps Direct, which as the name suggests, specialised solely in speed bumps. The company operated from a small portacabin in a back garden in Droitwich. Whilst the customer base quickly grew, it was clear that we needed to broaden our horizons by selling a wider variety of products than just speed bumps.

The First Leg Of The Journey

After moving to larger premises, we decided in 2009 to launch Start Traffic Management Limited to cover a broader range of products. Shortly after, sales through Start Traffic Management were soon exceeding that of Speed Bumps Direct.

With this name change and expanded location, we also vastly expanded our stock range, allowing us to supply our ever-increasing customer base with products faster than ever before.

A New Location, A New Trading Name, A New Warehouse

As of 2021, to further support our expanding team and range of products, we relocated to a better-suited site with better infrastructure.

We introduced a new trading name of Start Safety to make our expanding ranges of PPE and non-construction related safety products feel more at home.

In 2024, to combat the challenges of Brexit and offer better support and pricing to our European customer base, we launched a new venture - Start Safety EU, renting our first warehouse in Varna, Bulgaria.

We are excited for this new chapter in our company's journey, and continue to strive to deliver the exceptional performance we have always aimed to achieve.
